Why Kevin Finch and Finch Tutoring

Students who are struggling to learn to read require interventions from someone with specialized training in reading remediation strategies and a wealth of experience implementing those strategies.

I have worked for and trained under some of the leaders in this field. Read this article about selecting a good reading tutor, and you can be assured that I have the background and skills necessary to help your child experience success.

  • Twelve years of teaching experience and a Master’s of Education in Special Education with endorsement in Specific Learning Disabilities

  • Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Training from the Triad Academy in Winston-Salem, N.C., one of only 12 schools in the United States to be accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

  • Worked for and received intensive training and supervision in the implementation of literacy curriculums from Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, a national leader in specialized language instruction.

  • Trained under the supervision of Ms. Betty Price, a prominent language specialist and linguist with over 40 years of experience teaching students in the Roanoke Valley how to read.

                       A Passion

Whether it was working in the suburbs of Atlanta, the heart of Washington, D.C.,  the rural countryside of Honduras, or here in the Roanoke Valley, I have spent my life both training and working to be an excellent literacy instructor.  I’m passionate about helping your child become a successful reader.
